Louisville policeman killed in Lexington pedestrian accident

Louisville Metro Police Department Detective Jason Schweitzer and another pedestrian lost their lives in Lexington, Kentucky last Saturday, October 29. Their deaths occurred after the pedestrians were hit by a car driven by 26-year-old Suzanne Whitlow along Upper Street.

Whitlow was charged with two counts of manslaughter and one count of driving under the influence. According to preliminary investigations, Whitlow was handling her vehicle along Upper Street when she lost control of the steering wheel and proceeded to crash into Schweitzer and one other pedestrian walking on the sidewalk. Both people were taken to a nearby hospital where they succumbed to their mortal injuries.

Schweitzer started his career in the Jefferson County Police Department as a police officer in 2001 and later became a detective for the Louisville Metro Police Department. News about the other victim will come after the victim’s family is notified about the accident.
