Woman dies in Johnston county two-vehicle accident

A press release issued by the Kentucky State Police reported that a woman identified as Paintsville, Kentucky resident Orpha Childers had perished in a two-car accident that involved a dump truck around 2 p.m. on December 8, WCHS reported.

The collision occurred in Johnston County near Lowmansville. According to preliminary investigations made by the Kentucky State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division, a Mack dump truck was in the process of turning left onto U.S. Route 23 into the northbound lanes when instead it traversed into the southbound lanes, resulting in a collision with an SUV.

Childers was a passenger of the SUV. She was declared dead at Paul B. Hall Medical Center.

The SUV’s driver, on the other hand, was taken by helicopter to St. Mary’s Medical Center for the treatment of her injuries.
