Schlitterbahn guest Caleb Thomas Schwab lost his life on Sunday, August 7 riding the world’s tallest water slide at the Schlitterbahn Water Park in Kansas City. Police said they found his body at around 2:30 p.m. in the pool at the end of the water ride.
Police said Schwab was riding in a three-person raft on the 168-foot tall Verruckt with two women who were both unrelated to him. They incurred injuries to the face and sought medical treatment at nearby hospitals. The Wyandotte County Medical Examiner said he was not yet ready to make official statements as to Schwab’s cause of death. Schwab’s family was able to raise the $15,000 goal for Schwab’s funeral expenses using a GoFundMe fundraising web page. Kansas City police officials are conducting further investigations into the incident to find out what caused the accident in the first place.
