Toddler Killed in Kentucky Driveway Accident

Wilson & McQueen June 8, 2021

Twenty-two-month-old Barbourville, Kentucky resident Rylan Rose died after being hit by a 2013 Ford Mustang as it backed out of a driveway in southeastern Kentucky, The Herald-Dispatch reported on August 5.

The driver of the vehicle, unnamed in the article, told the police he did not see the child in the street when he pulled onto the roadway, although he did see the two other children that accompanied the toddler. He allegedly waited for them to leave the road before backing up.

The injured child was immediately airlifted to the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington after the accident. She died of traumatic brain injury sustained in the accident, reports from the Fayette County Coroner’s Office stated. Police authorities continue to look into the details surrounding the incident, although they are sure that neither alcohol nor drugs were involved.

The attorneys at Wilson & McQueen, PLLC, extend their thoughts and condolences to the family members suffering during this difficult time.
